Monthly Wrap-Up | June 2021

Like I mentioned last month, June was probably going to be a busy month, and it was! The school year is finally over and report cards are done but there will be no rest because I’m also teaching Summer School this year.

Teaching high school kids is something I love doing so despite how time consuming teaching, marking, and prepping is, I’m still so happy to be able to have my job.

If you follow me on Instagram @andreasbkcorner and have been following my stories, you’ll know that I REALLY didn’t know if I’d finish a 6th book this month. Of course, I didn’t want to rush through a book just for the sake of book count but I also felt that finishing it before July could be attainable. Luckily, the second half of the book was really interesting to me so I breezed through it and was able to finish it in June.

Here’s an overview of the books I read this month:

  1. I’ve only read 2 or so books last month, but everything’s been so hectic that sleeping was better than reading. Hopefully, July will go peacefully with time for me to catch up with my work. I ordered the 3rd book of Kingdom of Blood and Ash and I’m just waiting for it to arrive, so I can finish the series. I’m also tutoring and prepping takes so much work omg, but I like doing it and seeing the progress. Here’s to a new month!

  2. What a great month of reading! I read Spin the Dawn last year but have yet to crack open Unravel the Dusk. While I did like parts of Spin the Dawn, the first half was a bit slower than I hoped and the second half was a bit better, mostly. Seeing that you DNF’d Unravel the Dusk scares me a bit. If you have time, I would appreciate your thoughts on Unravel the Dusk.

    1. I’d love to share! I totally agree with you. Half of the first book was good and the other half kind of lost my interest. With Unravel The Dusk, I just didn’t really care about the characters. They kind of got annoying in my opinion and I wasn’t able to read another 200+ pages about them. I think you should still give it a try though. There are many good reviews of it as well so maybe you’ll feel differently than me!

  3. I’m sorry you didn’t care for Spin the Dawn. I loved that book!! Didn’t like Unravel the Dusk though so I’m not surprised you DNF’d it. Huge bummer when the sequel doesn’t live up to the first book – but in this case, it looks like neither books were your cup of tea. Glad you enjoyed several of your other reads!

  4. Aw I’m sorry about Spin the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk. Other than those it looks like you had a great reading month. I’m not sure about the sequels to From Blood & Ash, I didn’t like it that much.
