Let’s face it. When we love books, we don’t just love books. We also love everything that’s book-related. Whether it’s a book sleeve, a candle, or bookmarks, we get excited about it.
Being the curious person I am, I went onto my Instagram to do a poll and asked everyone what bookish things they love. Here are the top 5 answers that I got:
Bookish things we love:
- Books in perfect condition
Ahhh pristine books give me so much happiness. That feeling of flat pages, sharp corners, and perfect binding is just so satisfying! Sometimes I find myself picking out the book in the most perfect condition before buying it. Over time I have grown to be more okay with slight defects especially in bargain books Book Outlet but with its significantly lowered prices, it’s worth it in my eyes.
- The smell of books
I have yet to meet someone that doesn’t love the smell of books. I’m not really sure how to describe the smell – musky, wooden, inky? Something about the smell that never fails to put a smile on my face. It’s a unique smell that only books have and I’ll forever be smelling books – don’t ask why.
This is everything from candles, to bookmarks, to t-shirts, tote bags, art prints, keychains, anything that has book related designs on it counts. I personally love it when authors commission artists to create character art based off of their books because it allows me to envision the character the way the author does. Bookmarks and tote bags are a close second!
- Book carts
As a book blogger, this is something you see all over Bookstagram and Booktube! People usually use them as tbr carts or just a place to display their favourite books. I must admit that I got one for my birthday last year and have been loving my book cart so much! It’s a cute way to display some of my books and it’s also convenient and can be rolled anywhere in the house.
- Tbr lists
These stress us out and get us excited at the same time, am I right? Some of your tbr lists are manageable, and some of yours are just unending lists. Personally, my list is probably several hundred books long (and growing). I’ll know roughly which books I want to read each month but I’m a mood reader so I’m flexible with it. I always love having a tbr list so I can pick from it whenever I finish a book. There are just so many books I want to read and I’ll honestly forget about them if I don’t have them down somewhere!
Everyone is different but I wonder how many of these you can relate to and appreciate! Comment below with book-related things you love and let me know if you can relate to any of these!
